The Physician is responsible for all functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PCH Pediatric Urgent Care. The Physician role is an opportunity for a Pediatrician/PEM Physician to apply their skills in a pediatric urgent care setting. Physicians are responsible for evaluating and providing evidence-based treatment to pediatric patients within their scope of practice under the Medical Director’s supervision. This position maintains effective working relationships and rapport with patients/families, other physicians, employees, and volunteers. Description
Assess and treat acute injury and illness; including but not limited to anaphylaxis, procedural anxiolysis, respiratory distress, croup, and asthma
Perform procedural care including but not limited to abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and laceration repair with sutures, staples, and dermal adhesive
Provide preliminary interpretation of x-rays with official radiology over-reads
Oversee patient flow and daily functions of the office along with oversight of other providers, staff and trainees on shift
Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes to the management team
Work in conjunction with the onsite team to assure completion of daily tasks including but not limited to lab and radiology result review, patient follow-up, and timely responses to patient calls and questions. Maintains safe, secure, equitable, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing safety procedures, quality standards, and complying with legal regulations
Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Update knowledge by participating in continuing education requirements and opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
Assist the clinical team and patients with complaints and taking an active role in service recovery when needed
Focus on efficiency metrics to improve urgent care flow, patient experience, and throughput Qualifications
Pediatric experience is required; Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospitalist, or Pediatrics Urgent Care Experience preferred
BC/BE in Pediatrics
Active state license
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
Skill in rapid assessment of the critical presentation of the pediatric population
Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment and act calmly in emergencies
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and nonverbally
Excellent computer skills and experience with EMR
Ability to critically think, multitask, and work as a part of a multidisciplinary team
The staff physician shall provide patient care services and will support the PCH mission of providing hope, healing and the best health care for children and their families.
Education
MD or DO degree. (Required)
Certifications
Current Arizona License to Practice Medicine or the ability to obtain prior to start date. (Required)
Board certified/Board Eligible in the appropriate specialty. (Required)

The ability to move freely from facility to facility, as well as, the ability to move freely throughout facilities and examine patients. (Required)
