Saint Agnes Medical Center (SAMC) has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Board Certified Family Medicine physician to join the Faculty at the Saint Agnes Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program located in Fresno, California.
The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching residents in outpatient and inpatient services that are core to the Family Medicine Residency. Aside from seeing primary care patients in the residency clinic, the candidate will also cover Family Medicine patients. Additional responsibilities include covering our inpatient academic hospitalist team when needed. It is expected that the candidate will give lectures along with the core faculty on resident half-day sessions. Administrative responsibilities include resident advising, completing evaluations, performing scholarly activities, and participating in department sanctioned meetings/activities. This opportunity is hired through Saint Agnes Medical Providers; any GME activity is overseen by the Family Medicine Program Director.
The full scope family physician is a unique position within the department in that the candidate will bring practice expertise in all areas of family medicine (primary care and inpatient care). The role is 75% Clinical (Inpatient precepting as well as own patient panel in primary care clinic) and 25% Administrative (GME related activities).
Detailed Duties Include:
See own patient panel of patients in designated half days.
Educational half day Wednesday PM
Precept in the Family Medicine continuity clinic each week.
Will cover our departments two academic hospitalists with advance notice on as needed basis.
Work with other Family Medicine faculty to create a positive relationship with specialists in the hospital.
Create and develop networking opportunities in the community to help improve our patient numbers for our residency clinic. Work with groups at Saint Agnes and in the community.
Precept and teach residents and other learners on full scale family medicine, including procedures.
Participate in the competency-based evaluation of Family Medicine residents in the outpatient setting.
Share on-call responsibilities at the assigned Center including evening and weekend hours.
Assist with the interviewing, selection, and ranking of prospective residents and faculty.
Maintain board certification through regular CME activities and board examinations.
Participate in Research and/or QI projects yearly as stipulated in St. Agnes GME policy.
Take part in mentorship as a resident advisor (as assigned).
Participate in faculty development workshops/seminars.
Take part in Committee assignments as per Program Director or Hospital request.
Assist in other Residency related responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
Education and Experience Requirements:
MD or DO Degree and completion of an approved residency in Family Medicine.
Requires active membership in good standing at Saint Agnes Hospital.
Requires possession of an unrestricted California state medical license to practice medicine.
Valid DEA certificate
Active memberships in Family Medicine related groups, including the following: American Academy of Family Practice, Society of Teachers in Family Medicine.
Board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine or American Board of Osteopathic Family Medicine.
Ability to be privileged in comprehensive outpatient primary care and adult inpatient medicine.
Current certification in BLS/ACLS, PALS, NRP, and ALSO
Bilingual communication is highly desirable.
