| The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is seeking applicants to fill a full-time position as the Division Chief of General Pediatrics. This individual will have practice experience and the ability to continue to build relatively new practices in areas with excellent demographics and a growing population that is currently underserved by pediatricians. Assistant/Associate Professors focusing on a leadership role can be mentored into this position and are encouraged to apply.
As Division Chief, this faculty member will manage the direct clinical care, supervise day-to-day operations, and grow the patient base of the various clinics around the city. Other staff members include full-time and part-time pediatricians as well as pediatric nurse practitioners at different locations. Additionally, there is a steady stream of newborns that are born at the contiguous UF Health North Hospital.
This Division Chief will have dedicated time to supervise, manage, direct, and administer the General Pediatric Division, which currently consists of 10 (plus two (2) opening this year) primary care pediatric practices within the UF network.
Responsibilities include a commitment to leadership, resident teaching, advancing quality improvement initiatives through process improvement, as well as clinical and/or basic research and standardization of primary care services. There are currently 14 pediatric faculty in the division with 11 working in a combined Family/Pediatric Practice and three (3) in Pediatrics-only practices. Additionally, the hospital is home to 92 private patient suites, including 12 labor and delivery suites.
This position will report to the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine (UFCOM) – Jacksonville.
Following is a general description of duties and responsibilities: - Manage the clinical Division of General Pediatrics that provides care to the children served in the clinics and UF Health Jacksonville North Campus.
- Providing direct care to children, directing day-to-day operations, and growing the patient base.
- Participation on committees to represent the Department of Pediatrics and the Division of General Academic Pediatrics, as required.
- Attendance at Department faculty meetings and Divisional conferences, as required.
- Educate residents, medical students, and fellows as assigned.
- Pursue external funding support to build new clinical services and research programs.
- Maintain the practice as Patient Centered Medical Home practice with the NCQA.
- Expand pediatric primary care and enhance current pediatric programs.
- Participate on committees to represent the Department of Pediatrics and the Division of General Pediatrics, as requested by the Chairman.
- Attend Department faculty meetings and Divisional conferences, as required.
